Kiwi Cottage sits in a
quiet neighbourhood in the seaside village
of Ucluelet on the wild west coast of
Vancouver Island. We’re located on the
network of trails that are the ‘Wild Pacific
Trail’ and our property borders a naturally
forested park. It is an easy walk to Big
Beach, local marinas and Ucluelet shops and
galleries.
The renowned Pacific Rim National Park
with
its magnificent beaches is a short drive
away. Surfing, fishing, hiking, whalewatching and kayaking are just some of
the many activities the area is famous for.
Kiwi Cottage is named
after the New Zealand ‘Bach’ (pronounced
batch). The bach is the name given in New
Zealand to small, often modest holiday homes
or beachhouses. They are an iconic part of
New Zealand history and culture. We
fell in love with New Zealand and its
architecture and built our home and cottage
in the style and finishing typical of baches
there.
Our one bedroom
cottage offers a casual cottage atmosphere
and can accommodate up to 5 people. It is
completely private in a forested setting and
features natural finishes with high ceilings
for a light and airy feeling.
The cottage offers a kitchenette
with all the amenities needed for self-catering and a
dining table that seats 5. The living room
has a double pull out couch and features a
plank coffee table recycled from one of the
oldest buildings in the area. A TV
with a selection of DVD’s for all ages
offers entertainment on rainy winter
evenings.
The bedroom has a queen
size platform bed,
log side tables and a walk-in closet. A twin fold out foam bed is available.
For the surfers we have a
board and wet suit wash down station.
