Long noted as the "Scuba Diving Capital of
Canada" because of its historical shipwrecks that lie within Fathom Five
National Marine Park and its surrounding waters. Tobermory has always been one
of the most popular diving destinations in North America and this can be seen by
the number of dive shops, outfitters, dive charter boats and the National Marine
Park Diver Registration Centre, all located in the harbour. Tobermory is also
increasingly becoming a major destination for a variety of other water-related
sports and marine recreational activities. From the adventurous, sea-kayaking
between the islands off the tip of the Bruce Peninsula to a more leisurely trip
on a glass bottom boat.
